Barbara's obituary

Barbara “Babe” Battaglia Camfield (April 5th 1945-May 31st 2025)

Saturday, May 31st 2025 Barbara Camfield passed peacefully in her home in Kingman Arizona, and is now at peace with The Lord.

Barbara was loved by all, and her presence was a place that felt like home. She was little, yet fierce, and deeply devoted to her family. She was a loving mother and Nana, a genuine and loyal friend, and everyone’s favorite Aunt Babe. It didn’t matter if there wasn’t much to cook, if you needed a plate to eat, Barbara would feed you and make a place at her table. She devoted her life to her sons, and prided herself in being a Nana to her grandchildren, and never fell short of showing up for her roles as such.

Barbara was born April 5, 1945 in Schenectady, New York to Frank & Mary (Benacquista) Battaglia, and she was very close with all of her six siblings. Barbara was raised making her own clothing, cooking homemade Italian dishes, and making memories with her family, creating stories that would later be passed down. She told stories about her childhood that made you feel like you’ve seen it in a movie, and always offered humor to light up someone’s smile.

Her family uprooted to San Diego, California in the late 1970s where Barbara and her husband followed with their eldest son, Stephen, and later gave birth to her second son, Jeffery. She raised her sons in Southern California surrounded by family and close friends.

Barbara was a florist and worked with her sister and best friend, Marie, where they devoted themselves to creating beautiful floral arrangements for families in times of love, loss, celebration, surprises, and all moments in between.

As her sons grew, they each blessed her with 3 grandchildren, giving her pride in being a Nana, and later she was blessed with many great grandchildren who filled her heart and home with love. Barbara was present in every form for her grandchildren. It greatly prided her to be able to make a homemade birthday cake, teach them to cook, or show up with flowers and a hug on special occasions. She taught them each many older values that she never swayed from, and that kept her character steady and humble.

Later in life she began working for Walmart where she was cherished as a friend, and individual, admired for her outrageous comments, New York attitude, loyalty, and tender love. She was known for her many years of service and hard work before her retirement.

She worked until her health wouldn’t allow it anymore, and retired to enjoy many cups of coffee, card games, and visits with her family. After spending her life taking care of her family, it was then her turn to be taken care of by them. She passed peacefully in her home with both her sons, Stephen and Jeff present and surrounding her with love.

She was proceeded in death by her mother and father Frank & Maria Battaglia, her brothers Frank “Butch” Battaglia, Anthony Battaglia, and Paul Battaglia, her sisters Lorrane Battaglia Keft, and Marie Battaglia Kelly, and daughter in law Lachana Camfield.

She is survived by her sons, Stephen and Jeffery Camfield of Kingman, brother Richard Battaglia of Kingman, daughter in law Chennoa Camfield of Napoleon OH, sister in law Maryanne Battaglia of Kingman, her grandchildren Brandon & Kelsey Hart of Lebanon MO, Ashley Camfield of Kingman, Bradley & Nikki Camfield of Kingman, Joseph & Morgan Camfield of Napoleon OH, Hayley Camfield of Lake Elsinore CA, Bailey Camfield of Bullhead City, and great grandchildren Noah, Breeana, Magnolia, Genovia, Lenora, Baby Camfield, Ariella, Lucas, Isabella, Wyatt & Elijah.

Her grandchildren will forever cherish and reminisce of sneaking snacks in bed with their Nana. Her sons will relish their memories of making their mother laugh, and her devotion to them. Her loved ones will miss playing Yahtzee over coffee with her. Her great grandchildren will live with faded memories, and the ones she could never meet will know her through stories.

She is greatly missed, heavily grieved, but most importantly she is resting peacefully for eternity.
