Barbara's obituary
Barbara Lee Betros, 92 of Clearwater, Florida passed away peacefully with her children by her side on December 7, 2024, in Palm Harbor, Florida. Born on October 10, 1932 in Sacramento, California, Barbara was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Barbara loved growing up in California and living in other states out West including Nevada and Colorado.
After attending San Jose State Teachers College, Barbara made a career change to hotel accounting working at various luxury hotels throughout California, Nevada and Florida. While working in Reno, Nevada she met her husband Fierose John Betros. They had three children together, John, Patty and Anne. The family later moved to St. Pete Beach, Florida.
Less than 10 years after the family moved to Florida, Barbara’s husband unexpectedly passed away. Barbara then dedicated herself to her three children, raising them on her own while working full time at the Dolphin Beach Resort on St. Pete Beach. While raising her 3 kids and working, she still gave so much of her time to others. She often drove elderly neighbors to help them with errands as well as being a devoted Catholic, regularly attending Mass and volunteering at St. John Vianney Catholic Church and regularly donating to various charities.
After retiring from the Dolphin Beach Resort at the age of 82, she loved to spend her time with her grandchildren who adored their “Grams”.
Barbara is survived by her son John Betros (Michelle) of Ormond Beach, her daughters Patty Pierce (JD) of Clearwater and Anne Weber (Jim) of Tampa. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Joseph Betros, Emily Betros, Andrew Betros, Hannah Weber and Matthew Weber. She was preceded in death by her parents Louis Phelps and Geraldine Parmenter, her sister Patti Haas, and her husband Fierose John Betros.
Barbara’s legacy of kindness, love, humor and strength of spirit will be cherished by all who knew her.
A private family service will be held out of state to honor Barbara's life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to the St. Francis Foundation to honor her favorite saint. https://osvhub.com/stfrancisc…
