Barbara's obituary

Barbara Ann Ainsworth, also known as Barb, passed away on January 31, 2024, at the age of 67 in Abilene, Texas. She was born on October 31, 1957, in Schenectady, New York. Barbara was able to travel the world with her late US Army husband, Richard Ainsworth before settling down in Abilene. Together they lived until his death in 2006. Barb continued her life journey alone until met Joseph in 2008. They grew together as one and became inseparable till 2010 when they made it official in their hearts as husband and wife. Barb was a compassionate individual who always put others before herself. She had a strong sense of independence and had a deep passion for gardening and landscaping. She dedicated her time working at the various recreational facilities at Dyess. Barb loved spending quality time with her husband and friends, especially when they went bowling together.
Barb is survived by her loving husband, Joseph Edward Valdez, and her grandchildren Richard and Carrie White. She also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, and extended relatives who will cherish her memory.
Barb attended Shenendehowa Central School for her high school education. She did not pursue higher education but excelled in her professional career. She worked at Dyess for over 20 years, serving in different facilities. Additionally, she worked as a patient counselor at the Abilene State School, where she made a positive impact on the lives of those she cared for.
Barb was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, where she found solace and strength in her faith. She found joy in her hobbies, which included bowling, gardening, building puzzles, vacationing, and playing dominos and various board games.
No memorial services are scheduled at this time. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Wounded Warrior or St. Jude, organizations that held special meaning to Barb.
The Girdner Funeral Home in Abilene, Texas, is assisting the family with the arrangements during this difficult time.
May Barb's kind and selfless spirit continue to inspire and bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
