Barbara's obituary
Barbara Allene Denton was born September 27, 1932 in Spokane, WA to John and Laura Bulloch. She sadly passed away March 5, 2026 in Lancaster, CA. She is preceded in death by her husband E. David Denton (Dave) and her son Richard Denton. She leaves 2 surviving children, David and Pamela Denton, a sister, Joyce Widmer, as well as nieces and a nephew, many grandchildren, great grandchildren and even great great grandchildren.
She graduated from North Central High in Spokane, enjoying hobbies of swimming and ice skating. Then a young airman came and swept her off of her feet by stealing her charm bracelet at the roller rink. Together Barb and Dave created a beautiful family of which she was fiercely protective. They traveled to many locations due to his service and finally wound up in Yuma, AZ.
She had a deep love for animals – Cindy, Sammy, Zeus, Jack and many more shared a home with her. A number of us still have cats in our home that came from the feral colony she cared for in Yuma. And don't forget the horses. Taffy was her pride and joy even after the accident that halted her ability to ride.
Her passion for arts and crafts was amazing. Many out there still wear her creations or have them adorning their walls. She would make knitted Canadian jackets with the pattern knitted in. She made Christmas stockings for the entire family and, in later years, even for families of friends. How many of you learned to knit because Barb taught you?
Any time she saw a new craft that intrigued her, she was making a pattern and learning how to do it. Counted cross stitch was another hobby that consumed much of her later years - San Fran streets, the Black Stallion, tons of Christmas scenes and her pride and joy, Santa Claus. Beautiful, beautiful works of art.
If you wish to donate in her name, please choose an animal rescue or a Veteran's group. Those were the charities closest to her heart.
She was the light when there was no light I could see.
