Bailey's obituary
I am sad to announce that Bailey Juma has died on August 5th 2025. Bailey was not a lone soldier; she was with 15 other chickens, 5 goats, 14 ducks, 1 turkey, and her mother and me.
Bailey was definitely not for the weak; you had to really pay attention to catch that she was in pain, although she is a chicken. We loved watching shows with her and bringing her into the house to give her treats. We also really loved hanging out with her siblings.
It all started on a Saturday morning... I was letting the chickens out, and my turkey wouldn't come out. She kept sqaucking. So I went in there to help her and saw Bailey stuck in mud, half-submerged. So I washed her off in water. Then she wouldnt stand. She just kept lying down. Then I left her in the coop for an hour. When I came back out, she was not even opening her eyes, but she was still twitching. My dad asked me a question, "Do you wanna shoot her or make her suffer more?" and I had a thought. I should not let her suffer. So I told him to shoot her. So I dug a hole. My dad but her in it and shot her while I gathered flowers. I put flowers in her grave and over her grave. I put a heart-shaped rock over her grave and sat there. Looking at the sunset while it rained. I sat there for an Hour crying, talking, and just sitting in silence when I lost my train of thought.
