Aurora's obituary
Aurora was born on August 13, 1944 to Alfredo and Rufina Alegado in Quezon City, Philippines. After the early passing of her father, her siblings were raised by her beloved Step-Father, Felipe Martin and mother, Rufina Martin. Aurora will be eternally remembered by her husband, Virgo, and three children Ylani, Christine, and Don. Adored and loved, Aurora "Lola" will be forever missed by her two grandchildren, Jane (10 years old) and Caden (8 years old). Aurora will also be lovingly remembered by her five siblings, Alfredo, Jr., Adelaida, Teresita and Felicito along with her extended family and friends in the the United States, Philippines, New Zealand and around the world.
Aurora graduated from the University of Santo Tomas College of Education in the Philippines. She was one of a few chosen to receive a work visa in the United States. Newly married, Virgo and Aurora were the first in their families to immigrate to the United States. A true pioneer, she left for the States with hopes of a better life and to raise a family. She was proud to become a U.S. Citizen.
Aurora worked for many years for Standard Communications in Carson, California. Prior to retirement, she was dedicated to her work at Saint Joseph Hospital in Orange, California for five years. Aurora was devoted to her church as a Eucharistic Minister and volunteer at Saint Irenaeus Catholic Church in Cypress, California. She lived for their group pilgrimages to the Holy Land, visits to churches in Italy, Portugal and Spain. She made lifelong friends.
A loving mother, devoted wife and committed to her relationship with God, Aurora often hosted family gatherings and showed her love by cooking traditional Filipino food. Always engaging the family, she made a point to organize games and fun activities. The house was always full of laughter. She was a graceful dancer and lovely singer. Aurora was fun-loving and joyful when surrounded by her loved ones. She had an immense passion for helping others, loved shopping, gardening, and had her suitcase ready to travel near and far.
She is survived by her loving husband, Virgo, who feels blessed to have celebrated 50 golden years of marriage with Aurora.
Aurora's family and friends will miss her more than words can say. She lived for her family and loved with the heart of a lion.
