Aurelio's obituary
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Mr. Aurelio Acebeda Villaluz (“Rollie”) on August 13, 2024. Born in the Philippines on November 12, 1940, Aurelio's life was marked by his enduring spirit and indomitable will. Rollie brought immeasurable joy and warmth to those he encountered in his 83 years of life.
After earning a degree in Chemical Engineering from the Mapua Institute of Technology in Manila, Philippines, in 1962, he began his career at United Drug Philippines. In 1968, Rollie emigrated to the United States and embarked on a successful career as a chemical engineer. Over the years, he held key positions at various companies, including Charles of the Ritz, Johnson & Johnson, and Avon Products. Among his many accomplishments, he contributed to the development of the iconic "Opium" perfume and was instrumental in creating the popular “Take-Off" makeup remover at Johnson & Johnson.
Rollie’s career achievements were matched by his unwavering devotion to his family. He was a beloved husband of Clara. Devoted father of Philip (his wife Nancy), Eileen, and Melissa, who were born from his first marriage to Felicitas. Rollie is also survived by his three loving grandchildren, Robert, Katherine, and Kingston, his two sisters, Gloria and Emily, and his brother, Romy.
He was a longtime resident of Toms River NJ, where he was an avid gardener, enjoyed fishing and playing at the park with his kids, dinners at nice restaurants, dancing and traveling.
The family will receive friends Friday, August 16, from 4-7pm at Petrik Funeral Home in Bogota. All will meet for the funeral Mass at St. Anastasia's Roman Catholic Church in Teaneck on Saturday, August 17, at 10 am. Entombment to follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.
Rollie’s legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His life was a testament to the power of love and hard work, and he will be deeply missed.
