Audrey's obituary

Audrey Wilkins Johnson, 81, of Dearing, GA, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2023.

Mrs. Audrey, the oldest of four children, was born on June 22, 1942, to William D. & Catherine B. Wilkins in Augusta, GA.

In 1959, Mrs. Audrey married her soul mate James “Jim” L. Johnson Sr. in Augusta, GA. They went on to have two children, Chere’ J. and James “Bo” L. Johnson Jr. Jim and Audrey never stopped courting and would remain playful and flirtatious with each other up until Jim’s passing in 2008. Jim never missed an opportunity to make Mrs. Audrey laugh, which he said was one of his favorite sounds in the world.

In 2020, Mrs. Audrey retired from Gerald Jones Honda where she had worked in the parts department for 34 years. She was very proud of her Jones Dealer Group Family and treated the business and her coworkers with the same care and loyalty she would her own business and family. She spoke highly of the Jones family and missed them dearly every day.

After retirement, Mrs. Audrey, or Peachie Ma, as the Grandkids call her, spent her time on the family farm in Dearing, GA. She loved fishing, gardening, and shopping but was happiest when gathered with her family at large family cookouts. She also enjoyed family vacations to East Tennessee and her weekly visits to the beauty parlor. Those who knew her would often joke with her about her “Poofy Hair”.

Mrs. Audrey was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, James “Jim” L. Johnson Sr., her parents, William D. Sr & Catherine B. Wilkins of Augusta, GA, and her Sister Dorothy Fuehrer of Augusta, GA.

Survivors include her two children, Chere’ J. Caudle (Ronnie) of Dearing, GA, and James “Bo” L. Johnson Jr. (Amanda) of Harlem, GA. Six Grandchildren; Renee’ Hand of Dearing, GA. Ashley Klaus of Thomson, GA, Derrike Klaus (Dale) of Thomson, GA, Drew Johnson of Harlem, GA, Jeremy Caudle (Beth) of Poland, OH, and Angela Gunter (David) of Leesville, SC. Seven Great-grandchildren, Liberty Puterbaugh of Dearing, GA, Joe (Robyn) Caudle of Youngstown, OH, Carter Flaherty of Youngstown, OH, Cassidy Flaherty of Youngstown, OH, Jacob Caudle of Youngstown, OH, Chase Caudle (Taylor) of Leesville, SC, and Caleb Gunter (Anna) of Leesville, SC, and five Great-Great Grandchildren, Valerie Caudle of Youngstown, OH, twins Brantly and Levi Caudle of Leesville, SC,  Ryleigh Caudle of Leesville, SC and Delilah Caudle of Leesville, SC. A sister, Barbara Lassetter of North Augusta, SC, and a brother, William Dan Wilkins Jr., There are also countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and others she claimed as her own such as Chris Thigpen of Thomson, GA, and Cora Pentecost of Thomson, GA.

The family would like to extend their utmost gratitude to the staff of the Azalea Hall at Westwood Nursing Home and to all the amazing nurses from Southeast Hospice.
