Ashlyn's obituary

Ashlyn Jones Dugan passed peacefully on April 24, 2024 in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas.

Ashlyn was born in Augusta, Georgia on March 10, 1955. She graduated from Westside High School in 1972, a year earlier than expected. While in school she was awarded a Certificate of Merit from the state of Georgia in recognition of her outstanding achievements in high school. Next, she attended college at the University of Georgia and Augusta University, where she graduated in 1982. She returned to school, earning her Masters degree from the University of Arkansas in Monticello in 2003.

Ashlyn believed that all people should have the opportunity to receive an education. As such she began working at National Park College in Hot Springs, Arkansas. She considered this her life's passion, spending over 18 years working at the college. Not only did she teach students in the classroom but also worked on creating the online education program.

Outside of education, Ashlyn loved gardening, cooking, traveling, entertaining friends, and UGA football. Above all she loved music, whether it be attending concerts online or in person, or playing her guitar with friends at music jams that she attended across the country.

Ashlyn is preceded in death by her beloved father, Roy Jones. She is survived by her two sons, Ben Dugan (Yadira Lara Dugan) and Taylor Dugan (Hannah Roe); her brother Randall Jones; her former husband Jack L. Dugan; and her mother Betty Jones. She is also survived by the many students whose lives she bettered and her many friends.

Services will be held in Augusta, Georgia at the Church of the Good Shepherd on Friday, May 3rd with visitation at 10:30 and service at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to either the Church of the Good Shepherd or to the Augusta University Literacy Center.
