Arvil (Pug)'s obituary

Arvil (Pug) Delbert Pugmire, 86, died from natural causes on June 10th, 2018 at his home in Brighton, Colorado. He was born on April 2nd, 1933 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Maurice Delbert Pugmire and Cecil Annie Gasser. In June 1957, he married Nancy Lee Pugmire and together they had three children, John Pugmire, Kevin Pugmire and Ann Pugmire Clemenson. Pug served in the Navy as an aircraft mechanic in the Korean War and was stationed near Atsugi, Japan. After the Navy, he attended the College of San Mateo where he received an Associates Degree. Soon after college, Pug obtained employment at United Airlines in San Francisco, where he worked in aircraft mechanics and later advanced to Building and Maintenance Manager for the next 30 years. When Pug wasn't working at UAL, he enjoyed running & maintaining his Family Farm in St. Charles, Idaho where he was able to raise crops & livestock, train horses, and introduce his children and extended family to the riches of farm life and country living. In pursuit his lifelong dream of plowing fields with his own team of horses in the old-school fashion, he retired early from UAL, and spent most of his time acquiring the equipment and horse / mule team needed to meet his farming goals & dream. During his early years at United Airlines, he jumped at the chance to obtain his Teaching Certificate when his Hayward, CA community came calling for volunteers to teach, and then taught High School Math and Shop classes in the Hayward Area to meet the community needs. He is survived by his wife Nancy Lee Pugmire, his children Kevin Pugmire and Ann Pugmire Clemenson (Brad Phenicie), and his grandchildren Jason Lee (Morghan Lee), Keith Lee (Jamie Lee), Shane Pugmire, Zachary Pugmire, Mackenzie Pugmire, and his great-grandchildren, Braylin Lee, Avrey Lee, and Hendrix Lee and is predeceased by his parents Cecil Annie Gasser & Maurice Delbert Pugmire and son John William Pugmire.

There is so much to be thankful for in the gifts that Pug has given all of us over the years: his teachings, his thoughtfulness, his clever inventions and ingenuity, wonderful shared experiences, travels and memories, his laugh and quirks, but most of all….his loving kindness that he so freely gave and that will always be a part of us.

Graveside services will be held at St. Charles Cemetery in St. Charles, Idaho, Bear Lake County, from 1-2pm on Saturday, June 16th, and a Celebration of Life / Community Gathering will immediately follow at the local LDS Cultural Center.

Additionally, a small family/close friends gathering & viewing will be held on Thursday, June 14th, 2018 at the Monarch Society, in Downtown Denver from 3:00pm to 5:00pm prior to Pug's departure for his resting place in St. Charles, ID.

Pug has asked that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made in Arvil's name to the Denver Rescure Mission. https://www.denverrescuemissi…
