I only knew Art for about a year, A year I will remember with joy.  I was working at the Cycle Emporium with Dan Ward and Brian Martin until it was burned down by some local kids.  I helped Art build a bar in Tampa called “ Sharkeys” that year. We went to see the Buc’s play in Tampa also. I believe I still have a video of him breaking his arm at Dade City raceway. I remember I tagged along with Art and Dirk Henderson on a motorcycle trail riding trip through North Carolina, Tellico Plains Tennessee and somewhere deep in Pennsylvania. We had a great time and returned home to Florida with many memories.

I am very sad, & very sorry. I knew Art, his Mom, & his Dad extremely well. I am also a loving cousin of his sister. I knew Art primarily during his youth, and he could do almost anything. He was really a jack of all trades, and a quick learner, whether as a craftsman, a band member, or something athletic. He loved his friends and family, and will be sorely missed.

Dear Ryan, I know your Dad loved you, David and your two beautiful girls very much! Mary and I have been best friends since about 1954 and I remember very well the day Art was born, we were eating lunch at Skycrest Elementary school and Mary came running in yelling at the top of her lungs "it's a boy, it's a boy". She was so excited!

The other contributors are my brother, sister-in-law and Mary's friends from Ellijay!

Heartfelt sympathy to the family. Rest in peace my old friend.
Sending our love from afar to Ryan, Diane, and family.  Art was so loved by all!

Scott and I have been honored to have Art as a friend for over 20 years. Art was a man with a heart of gold, and would do anything for his friends. Art and his crew at A1 created a beautiful kitchen for our home in Clearwater. Also, Art made a huge impact using his gift of music and the inside design of  FreshStart Church.

Art will be remembered for his quick wit, his love of music, family, friends and life.

Enjoy being in the arms of Jesus, dear friend!

I remember meeting Art for the first time on a job site. We were working with Travis Ward on a project for a family who would one day become close to me in my life.
Art was a kind and understanding person who was easy to talk to. Although I didn’t have the opportunity to know him well, I had the sense that his life was very diverse, and his talents went far beyond his work.
He spoke of motorcycle riding, which he and my husband have in common, so he shared with me some of his experiences, and I came to understand he was very talented rider.
He was always present and thoughtful to whatever the situation he found himself in. I respect so much his integrity, his openness, and willingness to share himself with the rest of us in the world.
I can only imagine how many of us there are out there, who knew him only a little, who still felt a connection and gratitude for his having been a small part of their life.
My heart goes out to those who had a strong connection, who loved him, and who feel their hearts breaking for having lost him. I pray that you heal, and the memories of Art comfort you in this time of loss and sorrow.
You are my heart ❤️, my soul, and my forever. From the beginning with night caps to the last breath, I will always love you! I appreciate the love and care you extended to my special needs son.  The memories of sharing our adventures and time together with concerts, trips, camping, boating, biking, movies, and races on TV and in person will pull me through these tough times without you! I love you - Arthur Lucian Whitney.

Condolences to your entire family Arty.  You will be missed by so many. I will remember the last time we shared sone time and beverages at Flanagans.  Carry on Brother, rest easy.

Rest in eternal peace, Art. Heaven just gained another great carpenter and musician…💕🛐💕…play on…

Art, you always kept the beat, be it on drums, with family and friends, and of corse on your Motorcycle!  Thank you my friend for accepting me into the "hanger onners" of the band, back in the day.  I am so happy to look back and say "those were the days" even though we were all really just hanging on to the edge of our seats.  Our personal one on one conversations after my near death experience, mean so much to me, and I feel brought us closer!  There will come a day when we are all be in the "Court Room Lounge" in the sky.  Until then, lay down that beat for Dwain....Godspeed my friend!  Love ya, Ken Nyhus

Rock On brother!  Rest easy, knowing you  left your mark!
My heart is broken. How do I say goodbye to my little brother? The answer is I never will. I’ll just say we’ll meet again and I’ll bring the ice. Love you Bubba.
