Arthur's obituary
Arthur, Art, brother, uncle, cousin, dad, papa, big pop, chief, president or friend - It didn’t matter what name you knew him by—you definitely knew him and his big heart. Art, or as many of us called him, Papa, was a little bit of everything. It’s hard to capture the fullness of his life in a few short paragraphs, but we can share a few memories of the many that will echo for eternity.
Arthur Henry Turner was born to Henry Huel and Sarah Lois (Southall) Turner on June 8, 1937, in Pinegrove, Kentucky. On September 2, 2025, at his home in Rosarito, Baja California, Art peacefully left this world to join the love of his life and wife, Jane (Morris) Turner, at their heavenly home. There they are reunited with their sons Ronnie and Troy Turner, his sisters Lois Ann Solomon and Janice Greene, and his parents.
Arthur proudly lived a life of service and hard work. He had three full careers: first serving our country in the United States Navy as a Chief Petty Officer, then joining the United States Postal Service (ret 2004) where he rose to become president of Postal Union Branch 1100. He retired in 1997, but as those who knew him best can attest, Art never really stopped. Whether helping a friend, serving his community, or taking care of family, he was always at the top of his game. He was a super fan of NASCAR, Dallas Cowboys and boxing.
He moved to Rosarito, Mexico, upon retirement, where he built a community of dear friends who loved him like family. He was respected and admired for his fairness, honesty, dedication, and integrity—qualities that left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Art is survived by 2 sisters: Betty Green of Wichita Falls, TX; and Carolyn Raney of Dalhart, TX. He is also survived by five of his children: Lisa Turner Harper (Dale) of Lubbock, TX; Glen Turner of Largo, FL; Todd Turner (Christina) of Riverside, CA; Gregory Turner of Lynwood, CA; and Malinda Turner of San Diego, CA. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren—Amber Hannsz, Shannon Lively, Brandon Gould, Cassidy Turner, Sabrina Turner, Samantha Turner, Christopher Turner, John Turner, and Alicia Turner—as well as seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-granddaughters.
An extra special thank you to my dad’s nurses, caregivers and friends that loved and cared for him like family - Ellie Pulido Jaimes, Shurima Cancino Pino, Yannine Owan, Ana Luisa Pulido Jaimes, Leo & Alex, along with an entire community.
