Arthur's obituary
Arthur N. Tucker Jr., 86, of North Kingstown, RI, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 29, 2022 at South Kingstown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born and raised in Rhode Island, he was the son of the late Arthur N. Tucker Sr and Gladys (Whichelo) Tucker.
As a young man, Nick enlisted in the army. He served during the Korean War and his travels brought him to England, France, Colorado, and Hawaii. He loved to reminisce about the people he met during his travels, especially his time in England where he met his future wife. After his service, Nick worked as a carpenter and spent many years building homes and doing finish work. He was passionate about gardening and quahogging and continued to pursue both into his 80s.
Known for his stubbornness, quick wit, and infectious laugh, Nick was always there when you needed him. He could always be found puttering around, singing “My Girl,” and saying his signature phrases like ‘coco madonte' and 'Joe cool.’ He was generous and kind to everyone he cared about. When you needed a listening ear, advice, and a warm place to stay, there was always a seat at Nick’s waiting for you. He will be missed greatly by his friends and family.
Nick is survived by two of his children, Carolyn G. Ayer and Robert C. Tucker, three of his siblings, Muriel Davidson, Sandra Gates, and Stuart Tucker, 10 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
He’s predeceased by his wife and love of his life Thelma Tucker (Hankey), brother Stephen Tucker, son Arthur N. Tucker III, daughters Joanne M. Tucker and Linda A. Rodweller, grandson Steven M. Bourgault Jr, and great grandson Oliver W. Griffiths.
Services and burial will be private. A gathering in his honor will be announced at a later date.
