Arthur's obituary

Arthur Henry McKenna, 81, passed away on January 4th 2024. Born on January 20th 1942, Arthur was born and raised in Woonsocket RI.  He was the son Arthur L and Rita (Grenon) McKenna.

He is survived by his best friend and his cherished wife, Jaqueline (Piette) McKenna. Arthur leaves behind two siblings James McKenna and Elizabeth Horlbogen.

Arthur also leaves behind five children: John McKenna, Thomas McKenna, Charlene McKenna, Paula McKenna, and Caroline Kearns. Together, Arthur and Jacqueline have six grandchildren: Kasey McKenna, Owen McKenna, Hana Ehiwe, Jonathan Kearns, Evan McKenna, and Megan Ehiwe. They also have two great-grandchildren, Amelia and Millicent Kearns.

Arthur McKenna attended one year at a Catholic seminary in Maine prior to earning a Masters Degree in Education at RI College. Arthur taught for a couple of years at St. Claire High School in Woonsocket RI. Arthur owned a bar called "McKenna's" on North Main Street in Woonsocket RI. He spent the majority of his professional life tending bar at Kays Restaurant in Woonsocket, RI.

Arthur was an avid golfer and especially enjoyed golfing with grandson, Jonathan Kearns. He enjoyed gardening and cooking for his family on holidays. He was an enthusiastic fan of the Celtics and the Patriots. He was a writer of poetry and a life long reader of history and current events. He also served as a Lector and Eucharistic minister at Holy Family Church.

A memorial mass will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, January 18th at Holy Family Church in Woonsocket, RI. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Alzheimer's Association.
