Happy 73rd Birthday Art :) I was visiting my Mom in MD for the holiday and we enjoyed talking about you, sharing stories, and just remembering you while hiking, driving, and eating delicious meals (of which we're sure you would have loved, too). Speaking of meals, I also had lunch with your family, and it was wonderful to be with them and also feel connected to you in that way. Please keep looking out for my Mom, and thanks for all of the ways you already have and do.Β

On the one year anniversary of Art's passing, I wanted to share this sweet photo of him after he so kindly took us to the airport before an international flight. Art was a generous, authentic, and loving person. Miss his one of a kind quirkiness, good humor, and thoughtful conversations.

Art, I remember when you and my Mom started dating- how happy she was and how nice it was for her to get to know someone at a gentle and easeful pace. I looked forward to meeting you in person, and I really enjoyed seeing how both you and my Mom were in to nature, gardening/working in the yard, foraging mushrooms, art, and psychology.Β

Today marks one year since you died, and we miss you a lot. You’re definitely still with us, but we miss spending time with you. And, I miss my Mom having her partner and companion. You both brought out so much good in each others’ lives.Β

Thanks for still being here with us in the ways you are, and, I still feel so sorry that you had to go.Β

In gratitude,

Clay

Hello, this is Hogan Pesaniello, MD.

I’m a psychiatrist in Snow Hill, Maryland. Β I knew Art as a colleague from the Jeff Carmen’s list-serve. Β And appreciated his kind and enthusiastic presence, creative approaches during COVID, etc.

I offer you my deepest condolences. Β In time you will find Art’s presence with you, I’m sure in all sorts of ways. Β

I want to offer support specifically, if he was still seeing patients. Β Should a colleague in your community take over the pirHEG equipment and need any assistance continuing with Art’s patients, and needs support from someone experienced with this Neurofeedback, I am happy to facilitate, mentor, or train someone in the Baltimore area to continue what Art introduced there .

Sincerely,Β

Hogan

Good evening to all of Art's Vicky, family and friends,Β  Art provided neurofeedback for my son for a few years.Β  Art helped Gabe transition into a group home and maintain his employment.Β  Art and Gabe really clicked as evidenced by Gabe's wanting to see Art, every month. He was wonderful to me, Gabe's mom as well.Β  I am so very sorry for your deep loss.Β  It sounds like you were able to celebrate Art' gifts life.Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Peace, Catherine Gonzalez

The service for Art on Sunday August 11th sure did help us deal with his too-soon loss. Thanks much for all the moments to sing during the service.Β  Raising our voices in those hymns filled our lingering sorrow with unexpected celebration. And the memories shared not only underlined all Art's blessed gifts, but also revealed parts of him we hadn't come to know over the years since the late 1970s.

Thank goodness for email, he and IΒ  carried on some intense (often hilarious) exchanges from 2003. By 2004 Art designed and launched my web-site (www/Stremba.us). Twenty-some years later the site began showing its age. One of our last email exchanges in the spring of this year had to do with agreeing to pull the plug on it.

In 2005, Art and I travelled to NH where he helped me load a rental truck with household furniture from my wife's deceased parents' home. Lots of grunts and laughs. Then the unloading in Baltimore.

Vicky, it's a big-big loss you're suffering. What words can help you with that? In fact, I remember my becoming unable to speak to you my sorrow without choking on my words. And then when my Cates embraced you, I was about to do the same, but in a flash I could see Art watching, protectively, watching just how far this old guy would lean hugging his beloved--so in his honor I refrained.

Love from both of us.

Matthew-Daniel Stremba withΒ Barbara F. Cates

So sorry for your loss, Art and I went through 1st grade through 12th grade together but we became better friends in our later years. Vicky, we met at the high school reunion. Art loved you so, glad you had the time with him, although short, it will remain with you for a lifetime. Again condolences to all of his loved ones.

Art always treated me like I had intelligence, even when I was a child. He encouraged me with yearly birthday greetings that were letters with very real thoughts inside, instead of a greeting card. He was always uplifting and helpful to all. He was such a gifted artist. I will miss spending time with him.
