Arthur J.'s obituary
Chief Warrant Officer Arthur J. "Butch" Matistic, 69, of Dayton, Oh, died November 13, 2014 at Wright-Patterson AFB Medical Center after a long illness.
Butch was born in Lubbock, TX, February 27, 1945, to Arthur A. Matistic and Dorothy Nell Mayfield Matistic. He moved with his family to Joplin, MO at age 14, and attended Joplin city schools, graduating from Joplin High School in 1963.
He married the former Diantha Thompson on February 27, 1970, and they had three children. Butch attended Missouri SouthernState University. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps in Vietnam, and was wounded twice. He was awarded the Purple Heart with oak leaf cluster and the bronze star for his wartime service. He then joined the U. S. Army, and completed 20 years of military service, retiring in 1991 with many medals and service awards.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, of the home; three children, Meredith Schulz of Beavercreek, OH, Jessica Rosswick of O'Fallon, MO., and Wade Matistic of Cedar Park, TX.; three grandsons, Robert Schulz, Evan Schulz and John Arthur Matistic, and a sister, Patricia Fulks of Spring, TX.
