Art's obituary

Arthur "Art" Starkey, 73, of Florence, Oregon, passed away on March 16, 2024. Art was born in The Dalles, Oregon on December 29, 1950, to Harold and Mable Starkey (Wetherell). Art was predeceased by his parents and a nephew. He is survived by his wife, Colleen Starkey (Grant), his children Jason Starkey, Jesse Starkey, Amanda Brandenberg (Reed, Starkey), and Corrinna Reed (Starkey), his siblings Virginia Briggs (Gary), Molly Van Cleave (Eddie), Harriet Starkey, and Allan Starkey (Sharon), his grandchildren JoAnn Kindred, Justice Kindred, and Jewelz Kindred. Art is also survived by many cousins whom he loved to spend time with at the reunions.

Art lived in Arlington, Oregon until he was about 5 years old, when the family moved to Hermiston, Oregon where he was raised and graduated from Hermiston High School. He worked for Union Pacific Railroad for 22 years before retiring due to medical issues. He was an avid car fan all of his life, having raced as well as built them. His passion for fishing over the years was unsurpassed by any other interest, until he met Colleen. Art and Colleen met online and were married on June 25, 2005, on the beach in Winchester Bay, Oregon. They made many wonderful memories together over the years. He will be sorely missed by both family and friends.

Graveside service will be held at the Arlington Cemetery on May 4th at 1:30pm.
