In my last phone call with Big Bro, I told him about my planned trip to Chapala Mexico ... how I was planning to explore that part of Mexico with the thought of eventually moving there. He was very supportive & enthusiastic for me to go. Dolan (Art) told me about his trip to Lake Chapala with his partner Audrey & how they had mused about living there. It felt great to have this affirmation from him. Thanks Big Bro. Your inspiration will help to guide me to my retirement dream in Chapala. I will cast a bouquet of flowers in the lake for you when I arrive.
My family and I wish to express our condolences to Art's family and friends. We have known Art since we first came to Fort Collins in June of 1965, Many, many stories I could tell about Art, not enough space here. He was influential in my being interested in becoming a firefighter in 1974. What a lot of folks did not know was that Art had a very lovely tenor voice. he sang a few times at our church when we could get him to. He had many talents and his personality fit mine to a tee. So-long Art....Dick McClellan and Family.

First of all I want to express my sincere condolences to all of Uncle Dolans family. My heartfelt thoughts, prayers and love go out to all of you. He was truly an amazing man.

I have so many fond memories of Uncle Dolan but of course one stands out from all the rest. Uncle Dolan took his son Eric, my sister Jodi and me on an overnight hiking trip in the Rockies to a "cabin". We were all in our early teens at the time. This overnight hike turned into a three-day ordeal. I could easily write a book on this adventure, so much happened. I think we all experienced every emotion possible and then some! At the end of the three days we were all tired, cold, hungry, and wanting a hot shower. On our way home Uncle Dolan had to stop and get a paper before he took us home. This was such a hilarious end to our trip... here comes Uncle Dolan walking down the street, paper in hand, with his fly unzipped and his tidy whities calling out for everyone to notice. Haha! The three of us laughed so hard we were crying. He joined in once we were able to tell him. Thank you Uncle Dolan for being you, for being the great man you were and the great memories. I love you and will miss you dearly!💗
My brother, Arthur Dolan, lived a full & active life. I recall two memorable stories: First, when our young family lived in North Platte, Nebraska, where our dad was a truck driver, Dolan & brother Ron came home with a full grown horse they had encountered on a city street, & were very upset when our mom called the police to find the owners. Dolan felt that "finders keepers" should be the rule. Second story was after we moved from North Platte back to Scottsbluff, NE. Dolan was very active in Boy Scouts, & to earn a special award he bicycled all the way to North Platte, as a fairly young child. Can you imagine that taking place today?
His daughter, Dyanne, has created a beautiful obituary for her dad, & she hit the nail on the head when she said "he lived his life his way". She & his grand daughter Brittany, have been his constant companions & care givers the last several years, as his health has declined. My brother was so fortunate to have them in his life, & he acknowledged that to me the last time I visited them in Mesquite, last May. My love, respect & gratitude for Dyanne & Brittany is huge & unconditional.

A great tribute to your father, Dyanne, and so well stated. And accurate - ;>}

I worked with your father at the Fort Collins Fire Department and Poudre Fire Authority (1973-1989). He was always a great jokester and I always enjoyed his wit and intelligence. Our condolences. Mark S.

Having been involved in his life for the past few years, I learned quite a lot about dad. First off, he was hilarious. Like Archie Bunker funny. I could have easily seen him on his own reality show, if Fox News had reality shows. He was a Fox News junkie and only tempted away by some very unexpected shows and movies: Football (of course), Three and a Half Men, Big Bang Theory and watching Naked and Afraid... naked. He also loved old Westerns and Jurassic Park. His three biggest heros were Ronald Regan, Winston Churchill and John Wayne. John Wayne being his most esteemed.

He enjoyed going out to eat, sports betting, mani-pedis and getting his hair trimmed. Yes, getting his nails and hair done.

When I asked if he could move anywhere in the world, where would he want to live out his twilight years. What he didn't say was Belize or Florida or some other beautiful retirement community, he wanted to spend his time in... Mesquite, NV.

I am so appreciative of the time I was able to spend with dad. He wasn't alone. He was well taken care of. He was living life the way he wanted and I believe he passed when he wanted and how he wanted. That brings some peace to my sad heart.
