On what would have been our 22nd anniversary I dedicate this song to the memories of you that I'll cherish forever
To honor your life and legacy, Arthur, yesterday we held a prayer meeting to pray for young people and their families suffering the effects of mental illness. We knew you as a man of prayer and wherever young people are in crisis you would be right there praying. We thank God for all the wonderful memories we will always have of you. We thank God for your unwavering faith and commitment to God, and the many ways you demonstrated your love for God and us. We thank God for your generous heart and strength of character, We give thanks for the wisdom you shared with us and for your example of a life well lived for God. We acknowledge your absence’s pain and pray that God will continue to comfort us and help us to find peace in the knowledge that you live on in our hearts and memories—praying that God grants us the strength to carry on your legacy and to live a life pleasing to God as you did — a life of integrity, faith, and love.  You are forever in our hearts. The hands that hold you now are still holding us and we are grateful.

Already one year in heaven. Minister Walker was a man of God, so kind and gentle, he was a humble servant, his passion and love for his family was profound. Although he is physically absent from the body, we take comfort in knowing that he is with the Lord🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽❤️

Arthur was a gentle soul. When we are going through hurdles and challenges, he calmly tries to find a solution as he makes us his priority.
His love and the tenderness in his smile never cease to amaze me. It comforts me like no other thing in the world, even on the saddest of days. Most importantly his love for God above all made me/us feel secure. We knew every thing else will fall in place because he puts God first in his life.

We went to your final resting place today to reflect, and the presence of God was just so evident.  We reminisce and think about the time when we will meet you again.  Happy Earth Birthday, Arthur dearest.  You are forever in our hearts.  I am listening to this song and thinking about you tonight.

Reflection of  Our Brother Arthur Elijah Walker on his birthday January 7, 2024

My condolences to our family locally and overseas. I first met my brother Arthur Elijah because he was older than me.   I am the fourth of both parents Alva Elijah  Walker and Eletia Rosalie Bailey-Walker, also known as Rose.  At the time we were living at Nutts River Road, Saint Thomas, Jamaica.  My sisters Paulette first  for our parents (older than Arthur)  and Ruthlyn third for our parents (younger than Arthur).

He loved riding our father's bicycle, and I would run behind Arthur as he rode in the yard and on the main road in the community.  He loved going to the family's farm picking jelly/coconut,  breadfruit, pears, ackees, mangoes, June plums, tamarind, and any other seasonal fruits and provisions.  He would go to the river that ran through our property to swim in the "deep hole of the river" as it was called and also catch fish,  Janga shrimp, and crayfish.  These we would prepare for our family meals cooked in coconut milk called 'rundown.'

One of his favorite activities was catching /shooting birds using a  slingshot (a Y-shaped stick with an elastic strip between the prongs for shooting stones) this was made with rubber from tires.  He would later prepare meals such as bird soup, fried birds, or stewed birds served with cooked rice, roasted breadfruit,  or other starches. As he grew he would play football in the community and at school.

Other Hobbies and Special Interests: Playing Cricket, Playing marble games, Playing and watching Football, Playing Table Tennis, Playing guitar, Watching track and field events, Reading his Bible,  Listening to Love FM Radio, Gospel Ja, Listening to Gospel Music, such as Jimmy Swaggart for example Jesus just a mention of your name,  Watching Religious Programmes such as Son Life Ministries.

Character Traits:

• Pleasant with a positive attitude.

• His Smile was captivating.

' Remember me' by Anthony Dowson

Speak of me as you have always done.

Remember the good time, laughter and fun.

Share the happy memories we've made.

Do not let them wither or fade.

I'll be the voice that whispers in the breeze.

I'm peaceful now, put your mind at ease.

I've rested my eyes and gone to sleep,

But memories we've shared are yours to keep.

Sometimes our final days may be the same,

Don't be afraid to use my name.

Let your sorrow last for just a while.

Comfort each other and try to smile.

I've lived a life filled with joy and fun.

Live on now, make me proud of what you'll become.

My prayer for you is that you'll find strength as you go through this difficult time. Keeping you in Prayer.  Blessings

I am personally grateful to have known Arthur since 2008 at Northwell and to have benefited from his kindness and the example he set for us all. He treated everyone with dignity and respect and was always so knowledgeable and supportive.  He will be missed and we will do our best to honor his legacy through our commitment and actions.
