My condolences to Newt's family. I first met Newt when I auditioned for his band the Salamanders in 1978. I got the gig!! Newt and I became instant friends, with our love for northern Michigan, music, and the LIONS!! Also being reunited with lifelong friends, and former fellow bandmates, was a huge deal for me. We embarked on a musical journey for the next 5 years that produced more lifelong friends, and shaped our lives to this day. I will forever be grateful for that. So Newt, I know that you'll be with me buddy, as I cheer the Lions on to a Superbowl with a tear in my eye. R.I.P. my friend, be seeing you.....GO LIONS!!
