Timmy's obituary

Artese “Timmy “Timothy Gates

January 26, 1957 -November 22, 2025

Artese Timothy Gates, lovingly known as “Timmy”, completed his earthly journey on November 22, 2025, passing away peacefully at home in Las Vegas, Nevada. Born on January 26, 1957, in River Rouge,  Michigan, Timmy lived his life like a true athlete– full of heart, determination, and a deep love with the game.

From a young age, Timmy was a football fanatic, through and through. Whether he was watching games, playing in his youth, or debating plays with family, football wasn’t just a hobby for him – it was his favorite season of life. Though he literally tried his hand in boxing, his heart always returned to the gridiron.

A proud graduate of Inkster high school’s class of 1975 in Inkster, Michigan, Timmy continued his education in both Montana in New Mexico. Off the field, he enjoyed classic TV shows like the Beverly Hillbillies,  Green Acres, and of course— Petticoat Junction! While  age brought him a little grumpiness, it never overshadowed the heart of gold that everyone who loved him knew so well.

Timmy was a loyal animal lover – especially when it came to dogs.  He simply adored his pet Shih Tzu, Ruby  (Ru-Ru) with all his heart. He had a soft spot for children whom he loved to tease and was actually a “big kid” at heart. He also knew how to enjoy life through simple pleasures, including his beloved, junk food, snacks, and turkey tails which he treated like a victory celebration.

He leaves behind a team that will forever carry his legacy: two sisters, one brother, one daughter, and two grandsons – all of them will continue running life‘s race with his memory and their hearts.

An Ash Scattering Water Celebration will take place on his birthday—January 26, 2026 at 1:30 PM at Desert Shores Lakes 2800 Regatta, Las Vegas, Nevada followed by a soul food late lunch (his favorite type of food outside junk food) will follow at Finn and Feathers located at 1229 South Casino Blvd., Las Vegas, NV, at 3:00 PM.

In honor of the sport Timmy loved most, the family kindly asks that everyone wear a football jersey – a fitting tribute to a man who lived every day like it was game day,—even if he had to sit the bench!😀

Because Timmy‘s passing was unexpected, the family is working to fulfill his final wishes dignity and love. For those who feel moved to help, a donation of your choice would be greatly appreciated. Your kindness will assist us in honoring Timmy the way he deserves and help carry out the arrangements that reflect the life he cherished.

Timmy has now taken his place on God’s eternal team, leaving behind memories that will forever be MVP moments for those who knew and loved him.
