Kendrick's obituary
Artemis "Kendrick" Hutson, 18, of Pana, Illinois, passed away on October 15, 2016. Born on July 3, 1998, in Decatur, Illinois, Kendrick was a spirited young man who left an indelible mark on those who knew him.
Kendrick’s life was one of resilience and love. Despite enduring a challenging upbringing and navigating the foster care system in central Illinois, he remained a beacon of joy and loyalty to his friends and loved ones. Kendrick had an infectious zest for life and a knack for bringing laughter wherever he went. He was known for his playful pranks and his ability to make even the simplest moments memorable.
A lover of country music, trucks, animals—especially his childhood turtle—and wrestling, Kendrick found joy in the things that brought him closer to nature and adventure. His free spirit and boundless energy made him an amazing friend and companion. He loved fully and unconditionally, embracing those around him with warmth and kindness.
Kendrick’s life was not without its challenges. A previous accident left him with a spinal injury that he courageously overcame. His determination to bounce back from adversity was a testament to his strength and character.
He is survived by many friends who cherished his friendship deeply, as well as his mother Evelynn, older brother Skylar, an older sister whose name is regrettably not recalled here, and the foster parents who cared for him throughout his journey.
One of Kendrick’s childhood friends, Moss, fondly remembers their childhood adventures together. From concocting “magic mixes” to silence squeaky doors and gates to accidentally setting a dog bed on fire, their mischievous escapades were filled with laughter and camaraderie. Moss recalls their shared antics in the kiddy pool as they tried to keep Skylar—affectionately nicknamed “Skyboy”—out of it. Though time and circumstances separated them in later years, Moss holds onto the memories of their bond as first best friends with deep love and gratitude.
Kendrick’s untimely passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him. His memory will forever be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to share in his life. May his legacy of love, laughter, and resilience bring comfort to those who mourn his loss.
Rest in peace, Kendrick—you will never be forgotten.
