Lenny & Arlene's obituary

We mourn once again with the passing of our dearest Papa, Lenny Horowitz, who has gone to be with his soulmate, Arlene. His presence was so prominent in all of our lives that it is difficult to imagine a world without him. The 22 days since Arlene’s passing marked the longest period of time the pair had spent apart since Lenny was drafted to serve in the Korean War. Lenny and Arlene’s love for one another was so rare that the prospect being without her any longer was simply too much for him to bear.

There can be no greater example of a family’s leader than Lenny. He was consistently a source of wise advice, encouragement, love, and belly-laugh-inducing impromptu comedy. His commitment to each and every family member’s happiness and success shone through in all that he did, and he could always be counted on to be there in times both joyous and sad. He truly was our sun, and though his loss is difficult, his impact has set his children and grandchildren (and great-grandchild) on a steady orbit into the future. We feel comfort in knowing that by living well and caring for our family and others (and of course, eating well), we are carrying on his legacy.

As a family, we would greatly appreciate and be comforted by you sharing memories and stories of Arlene and Lenny, please feel free to post them in the “memories” section of this page. Thank you all so much.

________________________________________________
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Nana, Arlene Horowitz. An inspiration in all of our lives, Arlene was a dedicated wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. Arlene and her husband Lenny had a love that was truly special: 68 beautiful years of marriage, remaining steadfast by each other's side every step of the way, from their beginnings in Brooklyn, New York to retirement in sunny Florida.

Arlene loved her friends and her family so very much, and we are comforted by all of the beautiful memories shared with her over these many years. Along with being a dedicated wife, she raised and nurtured her 3 children, 5 grandchildren, and great-grandson. She loved attending theatre, spending time playing cards with her friends and enjoying the sweet things in life (especially cookies!).

We've all been impacted by Nana's kindness, love, empathy and good spirits in our lives. She was always there to lend a compassionate, and non-judgemental, ear. All family members looked forward to her poems at birthdays, anniversaries and special occasions. Nana always found the right words to give us joy, and make us feel loved in the way only she could!
We hope that here, in this space, you can share your love, memories, photos, and condolences to celebrate a life well-lived; a life full of family, love, great food, and laughter!

In lieu of flowers, we ask that you consider donating to a cause dear to Arlene’s heart: Save the Children. Information on the work of this organization can be seen on this page. We thank you all for being here, for sharing your memories, and for your love!
