Arlene's obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Arlene Guntenhausen on July 11, 2024. She was born on June 18, 1970 to Cheryl A. (Martinez) Guntenhausen, of Waltham, and the late Dennis L. Guntenhausen. Arlene's light was extinguished too quickly; however, her legacy of peace, love, and kindness will continue to glow in our hearts.
Arlene was a sweet soul who effortlessly exemplified kindness in her daily life. She firmly believed in spreading love and positivity. Her lessons of being kind continue to resonate with those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Among her many accomplishments, Arlene was particularly proud of her high school graduation. She considered education a vital part of life and celebrated this milestone with much joy. Arlene delighted in simple pleasures like watching television and playing board games with her mother and aunt.
She is survived by her mother, Cheryl, who remained by her side throughout her life. She is also survived by her sisters, Veronica (Jim) Jackson, Sophia (Tim) Wilkes, CherryAnn (Luke) D'Agostino, and Sydney Guntenhausen, her brother David Wayne (Erica) Guntenhausen, seven nieces, six nephews, a grandnephew and two grandnieces. Arlene also left her special Aunts JoAnn Donahue, Rosetta Wayne Hamilton, and Gerri Winters, as well as many other aunts, uncles, and cousins. The loss of Arlene is a painful void, but we can all find comfort in remembering Arlene's loving nature and her contributions to making the world a kinder place.
Arlene was preceded in death by her father, her nephew Patrick D'Agostino, and her niece Olivia Rose Guntenhausen. Also by her paternal grandparents, John Frank & Frances Ann (Paulding) Guntenhausen, and her maternal grandparents, Juan Manuel & Mary-Irene L. (Wayne) Martinez.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Arlene's name for the Epilepsy Society of San Diego County. Those wishing to offer their support may contribute at https://everloved.com/life-of….
As we mourn the loss of Arlene, let us remember her sweet personality, nuture her lessons of kindness, and aspire to extend the peace and love she believed in.
