Apollyon's obituary

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of my brother, Apollyon Warborn, who left this world on May 18, 2025, at the age of 21. Born on September 27, 2003, Apollyon was a beacon of resilience and compassion, a brother whose spirit shone brightly even in the darkest of times.

Apollyon’s life was marked by unimaginable challenges, yet he faced each obstacle with a strength that inspired all who knew him. He fought tirelessly to reunite with his younger brother, Or, navigating the complexities of the foster system with unwavering determination. His journey was fraught with pain, having endured the horrors of child sex trafficking and the scars, both mental and physical, of a troubled past. Despite these trials, my brother emerged as a gentle soul, embodying kindness and love in every interaction.

He was a protector, not only of me but of those who were vulnerable and in need. Apollyon’s selflessness was evident in the way he cared for others, often sharing what little he had to ensure their well-being. His heart was vast, filled with empathy for those who suffered, and he often spoke of hope as a lifeline, a belief that transcended even the most harrowing circumstances.

Apollyon’s legacy is one of love and compassion. He had a unique ability to connect with others, leaving an indelible mark on the lives he touched. His gentle nature and understanding spirit made him a confidant and a friend to many. He was not defined by his struggles but rather by his capacity to love fiercely and to hope endlessly. He often spoke highly of someone potentially his overseas partner, Felicity, who was a source of joy and calm, albeit occasional concern for him, and he cherished the memories of those he had lost along the way.

In his quieter moments, Apollyon would reflect on the world around him, shedding tears for the pain he witnessed, whether it was a lost animal or the heartache of those he cared for. He taught us that hope is the most precious gift we can hold onto, a lesson that resonates deeply in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

If there’s anything I know for a fact he loved, it was love itself. Giving love to others, giving others the courage TO love, simply the act of it. Just love itself, he was the embodiment of it. I’d try so hard to be upset with everyone who ever made him cry, and it was often, but he’d talk them up and come to their defense. Particularly some bassist he made a pick flower for, who I can’t remember the name of, and two girls from Europe, one of which, and the most recent love interest I believe, is Felicity. All at different times, mind you. Sorry if any of you three are reading this.

Apollyon is survived by his younger brother Or, who is me, and our younger sister Jesse, and both is us will carry forward his legacy of love and resilience, as well as the memory of our two other deceased older siblings. He is also remembered by the many friends and individuals whose lives he touched, each of whom carries a piece of his spirit within them.

Our names were meant to contrast each others, his meaning Angel of the abyss and having some relation to darkness, mine being the meaning of light. But recently it feels like my name has lost its meaning. What’s the point of being named after light if the biggest one in my life has just been extinguished?

An open casket funeral service will be held on May 23, 2025, to honor my brother’s life and the light and endless love he brought into this world. As we gather to celebrate his memory, let us remember the lessons he imparted: to love fiercely, to hope endlessly, and to cherish the bonds we share.

In the words of my brother Apollyon, “Hope is the only thing you will always have.” May we all strive to keep that hope alive in his memory. Rest in peace, my personal guardian Angel. You will be forever missed and eternally loved.
