Anwar's obituary
Anwar Faltas Abadeer, a devoted grandfather (Gedo), beloved father, and faithful servant of Christ, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his three daughters at his bedside. He was a man of enduring faith, steadfast love, and joyful spirit who left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Anwar had a distinguished career in the Egyptian military, where he served honorably as an engineer and rose to high ranks through dedication and discipline to a Brigadier General. His life was characterized not only by professional excellence but by a deep and unwavering Christian faith that guided his every step.
He was the beloved husband of the late Dr. Doris Abadeer, who passed away in April, 2005, and the cherished father of Drs. Dalia Banks, Hanya Habib-Nabers, and Rania Cannaday. He was a respected and caring father-in-law to Danny Banks, Brad Nabers, and Rory Cannaday. Anwar’s legacy lives on through his grandchildren: Dr. Andy Habib, Kendrick Banks, Kendra Banks, Savannah Cannaday, and Sebastian Cannaday, who brought him immense pride and joy.
Anwar is also survived by his brother Dr. Kamal Abadeer and Ensaf Khella, whose love and connection remained close throughout his life.
Those who knew Anwar, who went by Gedo remember him as a man who truly lived out the teachings of Christ—he loved and respected all people, and his kindness, gratitude, and cheerful spirit were evident to all. Even in his final days, amid declining health, he radiated joy and peace. He maintained a great sense of humor and a deep love for life’s simple pleasures—fishing, singing hymns, and reading the Bible. Each day, he listened to scripture, nourishing his soul and spirit with the Word of God that shaped his life.
His presence was a source of comfort, laughter, and light. He will be remembered not only for what he achieved but for who he was: a man full of love, humility, and unwavering faith.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
— 2 Timothy 4:7
May his memory be eternal and his soul rest in peace.
