Anusha's obituary
With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Anusha Rajan (14), a cherished resident of Buffalo Grove, Illinois, who left us on December 29, 2024. Born on February 28, 2010, she was the beloved daughter of Rajan Shankar and Nidhi Ojha.
Anusha was a freshman at Stevenson High School, where she brought extraordinary dedication and compassion to everything she did. Her teachers remember her not only for her academic excellence but for her remarkable spirit of service to others. Anusha's commitment to helping others was recognised through numerous prestigious awards, including the Sewa National Volunteer Service Award and the 2024 Gold Presidential Volunteer Service Award. Her dedication to service earned her special recognition from the White House for completing 120.5 volunteer hours with Sewa International.
She was a natural leader who served on the Student Council at both Stevenson and Kildeer schools. Anusha's artistic talent shone brightly through her eight consecutive years of recognition in the Stevenson Art Show Honor program. Her athletic prowess was evident in her achievement of the Outstanding Under-Level Player Award in tennis at Stevenson. She completed the Best Brains program and earned the Award of Excellence for her volunteer work at Shri RadheShyam Mandir.
Anusha had a beautiful dream of becoming a doctor, a path that perfectly aligned with her caring nature and desire to help others. Her gentle heart, brilliant mind, and selfless spirit touched everyone around her, leaving an indelible mark on her community.
Anusha is survived by her loving parents, Rajan Shankar and Nidhi Ojha; her brother, Siddharth; grandparents; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will miss her dearly.
Anusha's last rites will be held on December 31, 2024, at 12:00 PM at Bohemian National Cemetery, 5255 N Pulaski Road, Chicago, IL 60630.
Though her time with us was brief, Anusha lived a life of remarkable purpose and impact. Her legacy of service, creativity, and compassion will continue to inspire all who knew her.
