Antonio's obituary

Antonio Martinez now rests in peace. He was called to the heavens on May 4, 2024, at the age of 49. Heaven gained a special angel, and his family and friends are here to testify to his kind heart. He is now in a place where his happy soul will make the angels laugh.

Antonio was born on October 10, 1974, in San Antonio, Texas, and raised by his parents Jose Angel and Ana Maria Martinez alongside his only sister, Monica. He was given the nickname Tony, and El Torbellino was given later in life because of his passion for dance. That stage name translates to “whirlwind”, embodying the energy and vivacity of his flamenco dance skills.

Tony began dancing at the age of three. Although he was a master of many things, for many years of his life, his profession was dance. He worked for Arthur Murray, Fiesta Texas, Guadalupe Dance Company, and Fiesta Noche Del Rio. He made lifelong friendships everywhere he went. Tony was especially proud of getting the opportunity to tour the East Coast, Germany, and Yucatan, Mexico, because of dance. He enjoyed an adventurous life and what we used to call a “Ginato'' style of living. Tony used his gift of dance to choreograph quiceaneras, weddings, and give private lessons. He had the patience to teach and the creative mind to envision.

Later in life, Tony became a barista and took pride in making coffee for Starbucks and working customer service at Walmart. He was so loved by customers and coworkers. This was yet another testament that Tony’s presence was enjoyed by many.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother Ana Maria Martinez. who he had a special bond with. If you saw Tony, you saw his mother, being his number one supporter. He was also survived by his sister, Monica Guzman, Brother-in-law, Enrique Guzman, and his nieces and nephew, Noel Guzman, Veronika Guzman, and Kristina Guzman. To welcome him into the eternal embrace of heaven is his father, Jose Angel Martinez.

“O God, give us the serenity to accept what cannot be changed, the courage to change what can be changed, and the wisdom to know the one from the other”
