Toni's obituary
Remembering Toni
Antoinette "Toni" Norma Almerico (Lagoria) was born on March 30, 1952, in Oakland, California, and grew up in Menlo Park, California. A woman of strong convictions and a loving nature, Toni was a gifted artist, a beloved family-member, and a loyal friend.
Toni is survived by her one true love, husband, John Almerico, whom she married in 1976, and their three children: Nicholas “Nick” Almerico, Vanessa Almerico Vergara, and Alexandra “Alex” Almerico. All three inherited Toni’s appreciation of art and gift for manifesting beauty in the world. Toni loved her children profoundly and was incredibly proud of them. This pride extends to her sons-in-law Miguel Vergara (Vanessa) and Clay Anderson (Alex), and daughter-in-law Kelsey D'Andrade Almerico (Nick). Also mourning her loss are her sister, Georgianna “Georgi” de la Torre, her brother-in-law, David de la Torre, her nephew, Mateo de la Torre, and her adored granddaughters, Santéa "Téa" and Vella Vergara.
Toni was predeceased by her father, Charles Wilson Lagoria, mother Margaret Claire Lagoria (Vella), and brother Donald Wilson Lagoria.
A graduate of Santa Clara University, Toni received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1974. Her paintings, drawings, and prints have been featured in various exhibitions in the San Francisco Bay Area, and more recently in local galleries and private collections in Kirkland, Washington. Her appreciation for art and design enriched those around her, filling her home, her personal style, and way of life. She found joy in entertaining friends, spending time with her family, making art, and elevating the beauty of her surroundings.
Loving, affectionate, and a deep admirer of art and nature, Toni lived her life with a sense of justice and compassion. She embraced others and encouraged tolerance and understanding. Toni’s greatest accomplishment was her family - her marriage to John of nearly 50 years, her three children, and her grandchildren.
In memory of Toni, may we recall her vibrant spirit, her legacy of love, and her unique ability to find art in all things, everywhere.
