Anthony's obituary
Anthony Dennis Yankus of Libertyville, IL passed away peacefully on February 19, 2023 at the age of 85. He was born on July 7, 1937 to Joseph and Mildred Yankus in Waukegan, IL. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of over 60 years, Carole, nee Froncek, and he was a devoted father and grandfather. He had a corporate financial career for 42 years, including serving as Vice-President and Treasurer of Ammco Tools, Inc., for many of those years. He received both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Business, and proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He had been a resident of Libertyville since 1969 and was a long-time member at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. He will be remembered for his love of family and friends, his professional skills, and his sweet spirit and kindly nature.
Dennis met his wife, Carole on a blind date while undergraduates at Northern Illinois University, where he was a member of Phi Kappa Theta fraternity. He was the loving father of Cara (Anton) Jareb and Denise Yankus Johansen, and the proud grandfather of Colin, Eric and Caroline. He was the brother of Raymond (Carole). He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mildred.
Dennis’ hobbies and interests included traveling, movie-watching and playing golf. He had a single digit handicap as a golfer and was a caddy during his teen years. He loved spending time with his family, and he was immensely proud of their accomplishments. He and his wife, Carole, were considered “Super Fans” at their grandson’s sporting events.
