Tony's obituary
Anthony Edward Wruck III, "Tony" passed away Wednesday, October 9th, 2024 at the age of 86. Tony was born August 5th, 1938 in Saginaw, Michigan, the eldest child of Anthony Edward Wruck II and Rowena Bridget Wruck. Tony grew up in Flushing and Flint and attended high school at St. John Vianney in Flint. He joined the military after graduating from high school, where he was sent to Monterey California to attend language school. While there he crashed a party held by Jacqueline Fraley, and after volunteering to do the dishes to mitigate her ire, a relationship ensued. Tony and Jacque were married in 1961. Together they raised three children; Vincent, Paul and Jacob, primarily in the Sacramento area but also in other parts of California and the US. In addition, Tony and Jacque lived and travelled many places outside the US, including Cyprus, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and the exotic town of Chemainus, Canada.
Tony was known for his great love of the arts. He played several instruments and listened to a wide range of musical genres. He joined several bands, including a folk-dance group called the Peasant Symphony which played in and around Sacramento. Together with Jacque he pursued sketching and painting, travelling to France and other places for art workshops. He was also known for his service to others in support of their sobriety – he was a friend of Bill’s and had a great impact on the people he associated with. Late in life, Tony returned to one of his passions – cycling. Even as an 85-year-old, he could be seen on his trike-bike for hours at a time.
Tony leaves behind his two sons, Vincent and Jacob, and his grandchildren Anthony, Alex, Levi, Reuben and Ashley. Tony was preceded in death by his wife Jacqueline, son Paul, sister Bridget and brothers Jim and Tom. Tony also leaves behind many friends who will miss him dearly. A memorial event is being planned for March, 2025 in Albuquerque New Mexico. Please contact Vincent or Jacob if you are interested in attending.
