Anthony Frank Vitti, 88, of Danbury, Connecticut, unexpectedly passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 23, 2026.

Born on March 2, 1938, in Stamford, Connecticut, Tony was the son of Dominic and Christine Vitti and was raised in Stamford. He built a life marked by dedication to his craft and a deep appreciation for the arts. A skilled carpenter by trade, he took pride in his work and in the enduring quality of what he created. He was also an accomplished drummer and, among his many musical experiences, had the distinction of performing with the renowned Count Basie Band.

Tony’s professional life extended beyond his trade. He was co-owner of two well-known establishments: the historic General Putnam Inn in Norwalk and the Chicken Ranch in Danbury. Throughout his life, he pursued a wide range of interests and talents, including woodworking, music, cooking, and art. Tony was an Army veteran, serving his country.

He was predeceased by his mother, father, sister, and daughter-in-law, Denise Vitti.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Joanne; his sons, Mark (and partner Bobby), Bob, and Jeff (and wife Audra); and his grandchildren, Marc Pasqualini (and wife Pam), Sarah Lau (and husband Henry), Joshua, Emmitt, and Ethan.

Tony will be remembered for his musical talent as a drummer and for the many dimensions of a life lived with both strengths and challenges.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
