Anthony's obituary

Anthony Dominic Virgona Jr., age 69, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. Born on June 4, 1956, in Detroit, Michigan, Anthony was the second child of Anthony and Elizabeth Virgona. He grew up in a close-knit family as one of seven siblings, where he developed a strong sense of responsibility, loyalty, and care for those around him.

Tony attended St. Angela Catholic School and East Detroit High School. He went on to further his education at Bell & Howell and Wayne State University, School of Engineering. Always a hard worker and dedicated craftsman, Tony first owned and operated a small engine repair service before ultimately finding his calling as a journeyman electrician working for the City of Detroit Water Department. As a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), he built a respected career marked by skill, integrity, and a strong work ethic.

Outside of work, Tony loved visiting the Windsor Casino and the excitement it brought. One of his greatest pleasures was entertaining family and friends—sharing delicious food, laughter, and unforgettable concert experiences.  Tony knew how to bring family together and create lasting memories.

Tony was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Anthony and Elizabeth Virgona, and his brother Steven Virgona. He is survived by his brother Carmen Virgona and sisters Kandi (Daniel) O’Rourke, Elizabeth Weisman, Marina (Scott) Houghton, and Colleen (Antonio) Gaglio. He also leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.

Anthony will be remembered for his generous heart, his steady presence, and his quiet strength. He touched the lives of those around him through his kindness, loyalty, and unwavering devotion to family and friends.

He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
