Anthony's obituary
In Loving Memory of Anthony August Masilun November 11, 1940 – May 28, 2025
Anthony “Tony” August Masilun passed away peacefully on May 28, 2025, in Charlotte, North Carolina, under the compassionate care of Atrium Health. He was 84 years old.
Tony was born and raised in the suburbs of Illinois, grew up in Lyons and then lived in Darien, LaGrange and Hodgkins before moving to North Carolina in 2023. A proud and devoted worker, Tony spent majority of his career at International Harvester (Case) and later at Jewel-Osco.
Tony was preceded in death by his beloved siblings, Richard Masilun and Patricia (Pat) Karas, and now reunites with them in eternal rest.
He is lovingly remembered by his three children, Lori Hageman, Tami (David) Seastrom, and Jeff (Kelli) Masilun, and will always be “Papa Tony” to his seven grandchildren, whose lives he touched with warmth, and unwavering support.
A lifelong fan of Chicago sports—especially his beloved Cubs—Tony’s family finds comfort in knowing that the Cubs won on both the eve and the day of his passing. He loved nothing more than a winning streak.
Tony’s legacy is one of resilience, humility, and quiet strength. He was a man who never needed to be the loudest in the room, however was always present with love and support. He had little use for material things but instead delighted in life’s simple pleasures like gardening and good meals shared with friends and family. Over the years, he made countless cross-country drives to spend precious time with children and grandchildren always mindful to not be “too much trouble.” His love for family and loyalty will be cherished by those who knew him well.
A private memorial will be held by the family. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you cheer on the Cubs in his honor—or simply raise a toast to a life marked by love, loyalty, and Chicago sports!
Rest easy, Dad. We’ll carry you with us always.
