Anthony's obituary

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Anthony Bernard Manning. Anthony, affectionately known as Money, was born on July 21, 1963, and sadly left this world on May 23, 2023.

Anthony was born in Lumberton, NC but attended public school in Brooklyn, NY. Following the unfortunate death of his mother in 1977, he moved to Red Springs and lived with his maternal grandmother, Delthia Lee Patterson, and attended Jones Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. He was an avid basketball player and participated in many clubs and organizations. Anthony was a proud graduate of Red Springs High School in 1981 and went on to attend North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. Anthony also served his country in the Army, an accomplishment he was immensely proud of. We are ever grateful for his service!

On March 17, 1994, Anthony became a proud member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, crossing the line as one of the 15 Souls QuePsiPhied. His commitment to the brotherhood was unwavering, and his enthusiasm left a lasting impression on those he encountered throughout his life.

Anthony leaves behind five beautiful daughters, Chaise Manning (by Ena Anderson), Antonia Manning (by Cheryl Manning), Kezia Manning, Rachel Manning, and Gabriella Manning (by Joy Manning), as his legacy. He was predeceased by his sister, Sandra Manning; his mother, Linda Lynell Manning Daniels; and his grandmother, Delthia Lee Patterson. Anthony has one living sibling, Warren Manning.

Anthony was the life of the party, never meeting a stranger and always bringing a spark of fun and laughter to those around him. He found great joy in sharing his strong belief that family is everything and the importance of cherishing your loved ones. His passion for life and love for his family was inspiring to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His mantra was “God First, Family Always, and Brotherhood Forever”.  His life was filled with joy and laughter, and he touched the lives of all who knew him. Anthony will be greatly missed, and his memory will live on in the hearts and minds of those he impacted during his life.

A viewing will be held on June 2, 2023, from 6:00 PM – 8:00 pm at Singing Hills Funeral Home. The funeral service for Anthony will be held on June 3, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Singing Hills Funeral Home. A Repast will immediately follow at 4:00 PM.

Rest in peace, Anthony. You will be deeply missed.
