Tony's obituary

Anthony Keith Weaver, 53, of Melbourne, Florida, died at his home of an apparent and unexpected heart attack on 15 March 2024.

Tony was born on 4 October 1970 to Larry and Margaret Weaver in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He was an active and talented child, showing an affinity for sports and music at a young age. He played baseball while in grade school and football in high school. He loved his friends and cultivated those friendships for his entire life. His parents’ home was filled with music, singing, and dancing. He learned from his father how to play the piano before his feet could even touch the floor while sitting on the piano bench. He later picked up saxophone and guitar. He could play nearly any instrument in his adulthood. He could hear a song and then figure out quickly how to play it by ear on piano or guitar. He was impressive to watch and absolutely joyful to play music and sing with.

Shortly after he graduated from high school, he enlisted in the United States Army and chose Communications as his specialization. He was also Airborne, serving in the 35th Signal Brigade in the 50th Signal Battalion at Fort Bragg. His work in the U.S. Army kickstarted Tony’s 30 year career in telecommunications. During his career, he mastered many positions including installation of inside plant, outside plant, aerial, underground, new and existing construction wiring, and telecommunications construction management. He also spent six years supporting the Federal Aviation Administration’s Telecommunications Infrastructure as a network specialist.

Tony was married twice and had three beautiful daughters that were the light of his life. Amber, Allison, and Avaree were Tony’s proudest accomplishments. Spending time with his children and grandchildren, especially when playing music and singing with them, were some of his greatest sources of joy. He hoped they would all continue to develop their musical skills because that was a legacy he wanted so badly to leave with them.

Tony connected with Heather Covill, the love of his life, in February 2022. He went to Melbourne, Florida in March 2022 for a visit and never left. He loved Heather, and she loved him. He loved living in Florida with her. They got engaged in September 2022. With their whole future planned, and thinking they had a lifetime of years left together, they had not yet been married at the time of his passing. "I love you not only for what you are, but for what I am when I am with you." - Roy Croft

Tony loved his family deeply. Surviving his death are his three daughters, Avaree Weaver, Allison Weaver, and Amber Weaver. Also surviving his death are his grandchildren, Amber’s children, Oliver Burford and Emelia Weaver, and Allison’s daughter Everly Loy. Also surviving his death are his sister, Sheri Lynn, and her husband, Phillip McCall, brother, Larry Weaver, Jr., cousins Gigi Robles, Tammy Moore, and Theresa Thorne Stocks, nephews and nieces Mindy McCall, Matt McCall, Brice Weaver, Jessica Rush, Cristy Dean, Jason Weaver, Lisa Weaver, Marah Daw, Suede Whitley, his work family, and countless friends. Anyone that loved Tony is feeling his loss immensely.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Larry and Margaret, brother Randy Weaver, aunt Sandra Moss, and cousin Cindy Thorne Hunt.

Tony had an amazing ability to talk to and identify with anyone from any walk of life. He was kind, funny, and never judgmental. He was loyal and supportive. He was the best kind of friend. He gave 100% to everything he did from work to friendships to family to loving his people. The hole he leaves behind in all of his loved ones’ hearts and lives is vast.

Services will be held at First Church Fayetteville on Friday, 12 April 2024 at 4pm.
