Anthony's obituary
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Anthony Gillet, born October 13, 1981, and whose life was tragically cut short on August 17, 2024. He was a man of many passions, his curiosity unparalleled, and wit unmatched.
Anthony leaves behind his wife, Amanda Gillet, whose life was forever changed by getting the chance to love him and be loved by him. He is also survived by his caring mother, Linda Gillet, who raised him to be the amazing man he was.
Anthony's hobbies underscored his curious nature. A lover of culinary pleasures, Anthony savored every meal, whether homemade or restaurant-made, with too many favorites to list. He was the true definition of a foodie, supremely adventurous, and loved sharing that passion with his family and friends.
He was an avid game enthusiast, particularly drawn to strategic games that challenged the mind, as well as cooperative games he could enjoy with loved ones. He also had a great love for video games, good movies, and binge-able TV shows, and thrived on giving recommendations when he found a great one.
Anthony was not just brilliant and perseverant, he was perhaps most known for his sense of humor. His friends could always count on his quips, especially the ones he still kept in touch with from his middle school and college years. He was incredibly loyal, and cared deeply for his loved ones. During COVID, the text threads with those groups helped keep him in good spirits.
Anthony was also well-loved for his drive to throw himself fully into whatever he wanted to learn, do, or see. If he wanted to build something, teach himself something, research dream vacations, he stopped at nothing until he was a master on the subject. He could always be counted on to have the most-informed, best-researched opinions.
He was a great lover of dogs, and dreamed of being able to rescue many more in his lifetime. We pray he is now reunited with his best friend JJ, but he leaves behind his beloved Gizmo, who never got to say goodbye.
There are so many wonderful things that made him who he was, and none of his family or friends will ever be the same. His light was snuffed out much too young; he still had so much he wanted to do and experience. We will all miss counting on him for our daily laughs, and breadth of knowledge to help with any conceivable question.
In his final days, he was surrounded by loved ones, still joking with the medical staff and bemoaning his limited menu options.
As we bid farewell to Anthony, we remember his laughter, his love, and all the joy he brought into our lives. May his memory continue to shine bright for all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Rest in peace, Anthony. You will be dearly missed.
