Anthony's obituary

Anthony (Tony) Louis Bovis passed away peacefully on July 24, 2025, in Denton, Texas, at the age of 80. Born on October 17, 1944, in Dallas, Texas, he was the beloved son of Ann and Louis W. Bovis.

After graduating in 1963 from Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas, he enlisted in the Army. After his service, Tony attended the Dallas Police Academy. He was a dedicated law enforcement officer who worked for the Dallas Police Department, Pilot Point Police Department, Gainesville Police Department, Carrollton Police Department and the Denton County Sheriff's Office. During his career, he obtained a criminal justice degree from Abilene Christian University Dallas Campus.

Beyond his professional life, Tony enjoyed boating, fishing and hunting. He was a member of the LDS Denton Ward, Scottish Rite Dallas Valley and the Carrollton Masonic Lodge #1400.

Tony is survived by his children, Mark Bovis and Amy Anderson, and sister, Chelle Bovis Banks. He was preceded in death by his wife Brenda Bovis, his parents and brothers, Louis and Phillip.

A graveside service for Tony will be held Friday, August 29, 2025 at 10:15 AM at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211.  Lane #2.
