ANNIE's obituary
ANNIE "BIG JEAN" EDWARDS, a radiant beacon of love, strength, and grace, walked in to eternity like a Soldier on February 14, 2024. Born on May 8, 1943, Big Jean, as she was fondly known, preferred to be addressed as Jean. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter and warmth.
Annie is survived by her adoring daughter, Lisa Alamin(Greg), and her devoted son, Alzie Edwards. She shared a special bond with her brothers, James(Francine) and Jessie Edwards. The joy of her life were her grandchildren, Tylika Edwards, Tyrone Wilson, Jr., and Charnetta Edwards, Amir Alamin and a host of favourable nieces and nephews who will forever remember their loving grandmother, and aunt.
Annie was predeceased by her cherished mother, Bertha Edwards, and her beloved father, Jim Edwards. She is now reunited with her son, Leroy Edwards, and her loving sisters, Pearl Hawkins, Barbara Edwards, Martha Bluitt and brother Jimmy Edwards.
Annie was a proud alumnus of the 1962 graduating class of Camden High School, Mississippi. She believed in celebrating family ties and teaching younger generations the importance of unity and love. Her favorite color was green, the color of life and renewal. She relished soul food, enriched with history and culture, and enjoyed sipping on Crown Royal with a setup. Her favorite book was the Bible, a testament to her strong faith and devotion.
Annie's preferred music choice was 'Last 2 Dollars' by Johnny Taylor, a song that always brought a smile to her face. An ardent fan of the TV show 'Criminal Minds,' she also enjoyed watching movies and particularly loved 'What's Love Gotta Do With It.' Her favorite performer was the timeless Tina Turner, whose resilience she admired, that was so much like her own.
Cooking was Annie's favorite recreational activity; her kitchen was a place of warmth and joy, where she crafted meals filled with love. Peter Gunns was her favored local spot where she spent many memorable times, with her Sisters and friends.
Annie's departure leaves behind a void that cannot be filled. However, her spirit lives on in the family bonds she nurtured, the lives she touched, and the memories we shared. Rest in peace, Annie. You will be missed, but your legacy will forever remain alive.
