Annette Westbrook (born F. Annette Hoffman), age 77, journeyed to Heaven in the early morning hours of a beautiful Spring day on Thursday, April 23, 2020. She was born in Peoria, IL, relocating several times with her father, Bernard’s, work, and graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School in 1960. She found her home in Kansas City, MO, and raised her family there, working as a homemaker and at a number of secretarial jobs. Annette was a happy, friendly soul who never knew a stranger, and she made many friends along her journey. She loved to serve her fellow human, and she spent her twilight years volunteering at GraceWorks, a Fairview, TN, charity that provides aid and groceries to local homeless and struggling neighbors. She spent many years in Kansas City, serving the community through her church, Grace Baptist, and its homeless program Family Promise. She volunteered numerous times at Rainbow Acres, an Arizona ranch for adults with developmental disabilities, where she made close bonds and friendships with its residents, and she leaves behind a long list of beloved friends whose lives she touched throughout her life. She was an avid animal lover and gave a home to several lucky dogs throughout her life like her final precious companion, Ruby-Doo. Her beautiful granddaughter, Greer Westbrook, joined her on December 4, 2020. Annette is survived by her son, Greg Westbrook (Linda), her daughter, Amber Dowd (Josh Connelly), her grandchildren Alexander Dowd, Jace & Lexi Connelly, Lindsey Burnette (Jordan), Randy Willard, & Alyssa Hanes, her great-grandson, Dean Burnette, her sister, Chris Thornton (Bob), her brother, Bernie Hoffman (Dianne), as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many, many friends.
