Anne's obituary

ANNE LEE BISHOP born on November 3, 1942, was the sixth daughter to Albert and Hattie (Kennard) Lewis of Churchville, Maryland. She departed this life on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, in Aberdeen, Maryland.

Anne received her education at Central Consolidated High School, Hickory. Her love of school and knowledge never ceased. She married the late George W. Bishop in 1964 and there were three children born from this union. Her Christian walk was at St James AME Church at Gravel Hill where she was a devoted member, serving as a missionary, singing in the gospel choir, cooking in the kitchen, and even giving the kids a run for their money in sports and activities. In recent years she spent her Sundays with Southern Baptist Church in Aberdeen.

Over the years Anne took employment at various companies, Harford Community College, The Maryland House, Bata Shoe Company, Mitchell’s Cannery, Darlington Tomato factory George's Chicken House, 7-11, Wawa and Klein’s Bakery. Her heart was with the children in the Harford County Public Schools, first as a bus driver and then as a dietician at Havre de Grace Middle School and later Halls Cross Elementary and Aberdeen Middle School until she retired. She, alongside her husband George, was involved with the revitalization of Havre de Grace’s Parks & Recreation program.

Anne enjoyed spending time with her children and family. She loved to praise & worship. Her daily Christian devotion attested to her faith and trust in the goodness of God. She also loved crafts, sewing, baking, learning new things, and the Pittsburgh Steelers. She and her granddaughter Tyrissa (lovingly called Lucy by Anne because of their obsession with the sitcom I Love Lucy) were inseparable, teaming up to take on anything or anyone. There was no mistaking her zest for life. Good music and room to dance were all she needed. Her quick wit, humor, and pranks brought joy to those around her. And of course, she loved any and all things ladybugs.

She leaves to cherish her memories; her children, Reggie Bishop and Nerissa Bishop-Giles; grandchildren, Tyrissa Woods and Brandon Bishop-Giles; brother, Albert Lewis Jr. (Margaret); Sister, O. Irene Giles(Roger); husbands sister Dorothy Hall, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by both parents, her husband, son Reesie Bishop, one brother Donnie Lewis, five sisters baby Catherine, Grace Bishop, Alma Cromwell, Frances Fax, and Shirley James; bro-in-laws Eugene Bishop, Wm Cromwell, Berkley Fax, Bennie James, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
