Ann's obituary

"Ann" Annamarie (Hawkins) Leckliter

Born April 5th, 1938 in Bakersfield California.  She went to rest on Feb 8th, 2023. She is survived by her husband Terry Leckliter (62 Years married) and her daughters, Erin Cooper and Tom Cooper, Laura Coppini and Ed Coppini and Rachel Leckkirk and Leanne Leckkirk, and grandchildren: Dolan Leckliter, Sam Coppini and Melissa Coppini. She will be joining her son, Lewis Leckliter who passed last year, and many other loved family members who have passed.

Mom grew up on  a farm in Oildale, just outside of Bakersfield with her parents and two brothers and sister.  Her family eventually moved to Bakersfield, where she graduated from high school, just turning 16.  Mom was an incredibly smart woman, with a high aptitude for numbers.  At one point she even worked for the IRS, as an auditor in Odgen, Utah.  She worked nights, so she was home for us during the day.  When we moved back to California, she worked many years in Eureka for a local lawyer until she retired and enjoyed her hobbies.

What can we say about our strong, independent, talented mother? Many of her lifetime passions included sewing, especially quilting (which our homes are filled with) embroidery, felting, cooking (which she taught us all) and baking. She was an avid reader which our family all embraced also.  She loved to be in her garden with her cats. She even made up songs for some of the special ones she would sing to.

Mom and Dad moved from Fortuna, California to rural Tiller Oregon. The house is right across the street from the Umqua River, visible from their home. They have enjoyed the beauty of the woods, and made it their own with raised bed gardens, fruit trees and adopting many wild cats.  They also have a cabin on their property, which mom turned into her own fabric room. She was quilting and embroidery constantly and we treasure those items even more now. She will be missed by our family and her immense talents. No public service will be had, as it was her wish.
