Anna's obituary
Anna Mae Wilson (Goosey), 74, of Ponca City, OK, peacefully went into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 12, 2024, in Blackwell, OK. Born on June 27, 1950, in Raton, NM, she was the beloved daughter of Willard F. Goosey II and Mildred M. Demchek (Layton) and later stepparents Elva Goosey and John Demchek.
Anna grew up in Raton, NM, graduating from Raton High School in 1968 and furthering her education in child development. She married the love of her life, Gay Lorn “Sonny” Wilson, in 1973. Together they shared a passion for children and adults with learning disabilities; their careers included assisting those they worked with to achieve independent living, learn basic life skills, and expand programs to teach such things at the institutes they assisted. Later, they were very involved with the Head Start program and both received multiple awards for all the work they did through the years. Their passion for children reached further than just a career; they generously opened their home to foster and parent many children. Anna was always filled with love for children; as the eldest of eight children, she embodied warmth and maternal instincts, often taking on a nurturing role with her siblings. Anna lit up in their presence and loved caring for children always.
Anna found immense joy through crafting such as cross stitch, crochet, scrapbooking, and sewing. She was very skilled, and her works were not only beautiful but masterfully rendered. She loved reading and stayed up to date on the latest movies, particularly films featuring Jason Momoa and Dwayne Johnson.
She is survived by her son Kevin L. Wilson of Stillwater, OK; son-in-law James Capps of Dumas, Texas; step-grandchildren Jamie Ogdan of Tonkawa, OK; and Benjamin Briner of Ponca City, OK; numerous great grandchildren; brothers Robert Goosey of Raton, NM, and Charles Goosey (wife Elsie) of Ponca City, OK; sisters Barbara Hendrix (husband Mike) of Hatch, NM, Marilyn Withers of Raton, NM; half-brother Willard F. Goosey III; sister-in-law Sally Goosey of Arkansas City, KS; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Sonny Wilson; parents Willard Goosey II and Mildred Demchek; stepparents Elva Goosey and Johnny Demchek; stepdaughter Gayla Capps; sisters Judy Marie Goosey and Sally Gonzales; and brother Richard Goosey.
Anna Mae’s legacy of unwavering faith, love, and creativity will be cherished by those who knew her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
