Anna's obituary
August 15, 1949 – February 20, 2026
Anna Rose Williams, a devoted mother, grandmother, and lifelong lover of family and flowers, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2026, at the age of 76. Born in Roseburg, Oregon, on August 15, 1949, to Walter and Joyce Jacks (both predeceased), Anna grew up in Sutherlin, Oregon and carried its sense of home with her throughout her life.
Anna and her husband Tom Williams ventured north to the remote Alaskan village of Hyder, a tiny, rugged community nestled at the edge of Misty Fjords and the Canadian border. There, she worked as a bar and restaurant manager and bookkeeper until the passing of her husband, Thomas F. Williams. Returning to Sutherlin, Oregon—where she spent the remainder of her life—Anna built a stable home for her family. She worked in retail management for many years, retiring around 2015. Known for her steady determination and strength, she poured her energy into what mattered most: her children, Lucila and Tom Williams, whom she raised with unwavering love and resilience as a single mother. Her greatest joy came later in life as a grandmother to five beloved grandchildren. Nothing delighted her more than teaching them to bake, sharing recipes and laughter in the kitchen. Anna was content with simple pleasures, not drawn to crowds or casual socializing, but engaged with close friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Joyce Jacks, and her husband, Thomas F. Williams. Anna is survived by her children, Lucila Williams and Tom Williams; her grandchildren; and a circle of close family and friends who will forever remember her strong spirit, loving nature, and the way she made every gathering feel like home.
A private family gathering will be held to celebrate Anna’s life on April 18th, 2026.
