Anna's obituary
Anna McKinney Lowry suddenly and peacefully passed away on September 16, 2025.
She was the beloved daughter of Mimmi and Tad Lowry, sister of Tyler (Kate), and Charlotte Lowry.
Anna was an artist, proud cat mom, friend, daughter, and sister. She was also a devoted Philadelphia sports fan and lover of all animals big and small. Photography, painting, and family trips to Kiawah Island were some of her favorite things to do. Anna was a friend to all, rarely forgetting a name, always stopping to say hi, and was adored by these friends for her humor and honesty.
A kid at heart herself, she loved her niece Ellie, nephew Payton, and all her friends’ children who she considered family.
Anna was a 'Lifer' at Springside School, where she made lifelong friends and first developed her love for art. There, she was influenced and guided by her high school art teacher, Pete Capano, who encouraged her to pursue an art education—a path that became central to her life. She later studied at The Corcoran College of Art & Design and Moore College of Art. She could be found most days working in her studio.
Anna was one of a kind and hard to forget. She was a connector, often bringing people together who otherwise may have never crossed paths. Anywhere you go, someone knows Anna. And they most likely have a great story to tell about time spent with her.
Anna will be missed by family and friends. In lieu of a traditional service, family and friends will be gathering for an art show of Anna’s work, with proceeds going to the SPCA. The art show will be held on October 10, from 6-8pm at the Towers at Wyncote, building 3. 8440 Limekiln Pike
