Ann's obituary

Ann Marie (Newcomb Goodwin) Levick passed away peacefully in her sleep at 4:34 a.m., Dec. 30, 2023 in Jacksonville, Florida. She was 83.

Born on May 11, 1940, in Millville, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Howard R. Newcomb and Blanche E. (Vanaman) Newcomb.

Mrs. Levick was also preceded in death by her first husband, Edward D. Goodwin, Jr., who died on May 17, 1999, Grandson Darac Dean Goodwin Jan. 4, 2009, and her second husband, Kenneth Franklin Levick, Jr., who died on May 2, 2011.

Mrs. Levick grew up in Millville, New Jersey, and graduated from Millville High School with the Class of 1958. She was a majorette in the MHS marching band. She played basketball for the Lady Thunderbolts.

After high school, she married Edward D. Goodwin, Jr. at First Presbyterian Church in Millville on July 16, 1960, while he attended the University of Pennsylvania. Her husband worked for General Electric on government contract assignments. She lived in Pittsfield, Massachusetts; Utica, New York; Lynchburg, Virginia; King of Prussia, Pennsylvania; Waynesboro, Virginia and Erie, Pennsylvania between 1961 and 1976.

She, her husband, and five children moved to Millville, New Jersey in February 1976 and lived there until 1990.

Mrs. Levick was a real estate agent for Gant and Ferguson in Millville. She also worked at The Christmas Shop in Jekyll Island, Georgia. When she was in high school, she worked at Corson’s Drugstore and for a dentist in Millville.

Mrs. Levick was crowned Miss Millville, Miss Cumberland County Fair, and Miss Holly City. She was third runner-up in the Miss New Jersey pageant.

She was a devoted wife and mother who dedicated all her waking hours to her marriage and her children. She loved cooking and hosting holiday gatherings. For a time, she made decorative displays from dry silk flowers. She enjoyed decorating her homes during the Christmas holiday season and listening to Christmas music.

Some of her favorite musical artists were Kenny Rogers, Lionel Richie, and Alan Jackson. While she lived with Mr. Levick in Speedwell, Tennessee, she developed a fondness for country music and NASCAR. Her favorite sports team was the Philadelphia Eagles. She also enjoyed watching television, especially the drama series NCIS and Hawaii Five-O.

She married Mr. Levick on August 1, 2003, and lived in Pensacola, Florida until Hurricane Ivan’s devastation forced them to look for another residence. They found it in a country-style A-frame house in the east Tennessee mountains in Speedwell, Tennessee on the shores of Lake Norris. She lived there from 2005 until 2017 when her health began to deteriorate and she moved in with her daughter Debra Cruz and her family (husband Hassan, daughters Caley and Ciara, and son Ethan) in Jacksonville, Florida.

She is survived by five children: Edward D. Goodwin III (and his wife June) of Indianola, Washington; Lee H. Goodwin (and his wife Susan) of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania; Dean J. Goodwin, of Sitka, Alaska; Matthew Todd Goodwin (and his wife DeeDee), of St. Simon’s Island, Georgia; and Debra Ann (Goodwin) Cruz (and her husband Hassan) of Jacksonville, Florida; eight grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and five step-great-grandchildren.
