Ann's obituary
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ann Hamilton “Little” Smith. Born on April 17, 1952, Ann was a beacon of kindness and love to all who knew her. She passed away peacefully on April 6, 2025 in her home surrounded by her best friends.
An active part of her community, Ann enjoyed spending her free time down by the ocean on Long Beach Island, finding sea glass and solving crossword puzzles. An avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, she loved cheering on her favorite team. She was also known as 'Annie Oakley' on the gun range.
She was over the moon to be a Grandmother. She cherished the time spent with her grandchildren. Her love for her animals was immense. She was a devoted supporter of SPCA and a loving mother to her fur babies. As a retired special education aide of WCASD and a member of the Conestoga reunion committee, she touched many lives. Ann was also a valuable attendee at the Christ Community Church and a member of both the Brandywine Long Rifles and Columbia Schuetzenverein.
She leaves behind her children, Tom Smith and Terri Smith-Braun, her son-in-law Nick Braun, and her beloved grandkids, Freya Luna Braun and Nova Von Braun. She will be dearly missed by her partner Dave VanHook and her brother, Douglas Little.
Ann was predeceased by her father Thomas Little, mother Eldonna Little, and husband George R Smith II. In her passing, she reunites with her loved ones who passed before her, including her beloved fur babies.
Her life will be celebrated on April 22, 2025, from 11:00am to 2:00 PM at the Downingtown Country Club. All who knew and loved her are welcome to attend and share in the celebration of her life.
Ann’s legacy of kindness and compassion remains with us. Her friendly and sociable spirit, combined with a loving heart, made her a true friend to many. She was genuinely one-of-a-kind, and her memory will be cherished in the hearts of all who knew her.
Our family would like to thank all that cared for our Mother throughout her illness and to those that cared for her around the clock during her last weeks on earth. Your kindness is immeasurable and we love you dearly. You are Forever in our hearts Mom 💚🐚
When I come to the end of the road,
And the sun has set for me,
I want no rites in a gloom filled room
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little – but not for long.
And not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love that once we shared.
Miss me, but let me go.
For this is a journey we must all take,
And each must go alone.
It’s all part of the master plan,
A step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick at heart,
Go to the friends we know,
Laugh at all the things we used to do.
Miss me, but let me go.
