Ann's obituary

Ann Bernice Clancey, age 85, of Wallingford, Pennsylvania passed away on 12/22/23 at home surrounded by loved ones. In 1938, Ann was born in Cardiff, Wales to John “Skip” and Nell Driscoll and made the journey to America at the age of thirteen. Ann has always been fiercely proud of her Welsh heritage and many Welsh customs have been kept alive within the family to this day. In 1957 she married the love of her life, James “Jim” Clancey, and moved from Connecticut to Pennsylvania to raise her three children with whom she is survived by: Patricia Clancey Klem and her partner, Robert; James “Jay” Clancey and his late wife, Rosa; and Guerric Clancey and his partner Lisa. She is also survived by her grandson, Christopher Klem, and his partner Danielle; granddaughter, Katharine Klem; granddaughter Mary Rose Mendosa, her spouse Steve, and great granddaughter, Samantha. She is also survived by two other great grandchildren, Franky and Ellie Klem, with whom she spent many of her days. Outside of her immediate family, Ann had many close friends and neighbors with whom she loved spending time with.

Ann was the matriarch of the family, providing endless support to siblings, cousins, nieces, children and her husband for over sixty years . Ann was a master of the kitchen and is known for many of her famous dishes, including her famous chocolate torte (which she didn’t eat), her spaghetti and meatballs, homemade bread, and dozens of other recipes that will live on for generations. She was an avid artist who enjoyed painting, pastels, cross-stitch and sewing and she has created many magical moments of joy in gifting those homemade treasures. Ann worked for many years at an art studio and was able to make her passion into her career. Ann also enjoyed reading, writing, cryptograms, coffee and staying in close contact with her family and friends.

Ann was truly one of a kind and was such a gentle and caring soul. She was able to spend her remaining days surrounded by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and family and friends. She will be missed, but her legacy, her recipes, hand-made items, and her love for everyone will live on.

Ann has elected to not have a formal service and in lieu of flowers, she asks that donations, only if people have the capacity to do so, be made to the National Organization for Rare Disorders at rarediseases.org/donate-nord/…

There will be a luncheon to share our memories and celebrate her life for close family and friends. The lunch information is available on this site. Please RSVP by 1/2/23 to Chris Klem at 610-299-8770 or cjklem17@gmail.com
