Anita's obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Anita "Sonny" Gray, who left this world on November 20, 2023. Anita, loved by many as 'Sonny', was born on August 21, 1960. She was a vibrant woman known for her passion, empathy, kindness, and generosity. Anita's warm spirit and loving nature touched everyone she met. She was a woman who loved deeply and lived fully, leaving a legacy of love, friendship, fun, and lasting memories with her family and friends.

Anita was the beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many. She is survived by her daughter, Nina Gray, her brothers Ludell Worley, Tommy Williford, and Johnny Williford, her nephew, Eric Worley, son-in-law Tyler Smith, and her grandchildren Salem, Roman, Sayora, Loki, and Logan. Anita was predeceased by her son, Lamar Lucchesi, her partner, Fredd Stepp SR., her parents, Marion and Raymond Williford, and her grandmother, Juanita Prince.

Anita had a flair for life, which radiated in her tastes and interests. She delighted in comfort food such as Philadelphia rolls, chili, pot roast, and pork chops paired with a Pepsi or sangria. She was an avid viewer of Ancient Aliens, NCIS, and loved anything on the History Channel. Anita's competitive spirit would shine brightly when playing games like Rummy, Solitaire, and Bingo.

She found joy in crafting, spending quality time with her grandkids, and being with her family and friends. She loved exploring places like Orlando and Charleston and frequented local spots like Bingo spots, Hobby Lobby, Michaels Crafts, and Red Lobster. Compassionate as she was, Any cancer research was a cause close to her heart.

Anita's life was a colorful tapestry, with favorite shades of red, pink, green, and blue. Above all, her greatest accomplishments were her children, grandchildren, and her crafting projects. She always reminded us to support our family at all costs, never to give up, and to live every day as if it was your last.

In memory of Anita, a fundraiser is being organized for the Gray Matters Brain Cancer Foundation. Donations can be made at https://everloved.com/life-of…. We believe no tribute would be more fitting than supporting a cause she firmly believed in.

Anita was not just an exceptional woman, but also a best friend, a confidante, a pillar of strength, and a beacon of love. Her life was a testament to her unwavering commitment to her loved ones, and her indomitable spirit will continue to inspire us all. She loved without condition and always was there to lend a hand, making her absences all the graver. We will forever cherish the beautiful moments we shared with Anita. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
