Angelica's obituary

Angelica Elizabeth Colon-Bigelow, 32, of Hartford, CT, passed away on September 27th after a valiant battle with a rare and unexpected medical condition.

Angelica was born on December 30th, 1988 to Amilcar and Noemi Colon in Hartford, CT. After graduating from East Hartford High School, she went on to graduate with degrees from both the Culinary Institute of America and the University of South Florida for cyber security.

After graduation, she landed her first job as a chef for the Ritz-Carlton, kicking off a 10+ year culinary career with stops at different resorts across the country. Following her move to Sarasota, FL, she decided to further her education and advance to a career in cyber security. She started her next career venture with Boar’s Head in Sarasota, FL before moving to work for Raytheon in Huntsville, AL.

In 2018, she met Eric Bigelow in Sarasota, FL, and they wed in 2020, going on to adopt 2 dogs, Remi and Jade, and preparing for the arrival of their twins in February 2022.

Angelica is survived by her husband, Eric Bigelow; her parents, Amilcar and Noemi Colon; her brother, Aramis Colon. Angelica was a beloved wife, daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin, soon-to-be mother and friend.

Angelica spent her time cooking, reading, learning, and spoiling her puppies. She enjoyed painting, singing, writing her own songs and creating new recipes for her homemade meals. Angelica loved game nights with trivia and cards, sitting by a fire, stargazing and going on nature hikes with her puppies. Angelica’s perfect weekend could be traveling to a cabin in the woods or even spending the night at home, creating a memorable date night and watching movies and reality TV shows. Angelica cared for others and wanted nothing more than to make her loved ones feel special. She was going to be an amazing mother and will be truly missed.
